AP 526, Masters Thesis Final Project,  Blake Droulliard, MArch 2014

This thesis aims to find a solution that might mitigate the current blight that has gripped Detroit. Architecture will be looked at as a specialized tool, instead of a driving factor to help solve some of the issues. The tool itself cannot fix the problem but by understanding the city in its entirety through its history, culture, and people, the problems can be identified and informed decisions as to how to wield it can begin to be made.   The city’s history within the past century, being so interrelated to that of the automotive industry accentuates the cultural importance of craft and making and will be analyzed along with other precedents to fine tune the use of architecture as a means of healing part of the city.
