Jesse Gillette

Jesse Gillette, Class of 2016

I was born and raised in central Vermont, a place I’m proud to call home.  I’ve always enjoyed the outdoors, taking up hunting, fishing, snowboarding, skateboarding, and multiple sports throughout the years. I really enjoy working with my hands, driving myself to take up classes and jobs in the fields of electrical, carpentry, landscaping, welding and fabrication, and manufacturing. Through these many jobs, I realized I loved what I was doing, but wanted the work my hands were doing to be a product of my mind, not someone else’s. So I then started my own landscaping and welding business. I became fascinated with how and why everything was done and made the way that I was doing it; I was going to be an engineer I thought. Once studying engineering at Norwich, I came to the realization that I was more concerned with design and the design process of things: I have since been studying Architecture and love doing so. My time here at Norwich has been great, being a member of the Rotaract Club, Ultimate Frisbee Club, and President of the Ski/Snowboard Club. After Norwich, I plan to get a job in my field wherever the wind takes me, as I love to travel, but I will never forget where I came from, my favorite place: Vermont.
