Lutz Work

Matt Lutz, Associate Professor

Professor  Lutz is dedicated to the research and development of affordable housing alternatives for New England’s cold climate. Toward this end he began studying Passive House techniques for high performance building envelope design and energy modeling. These studies led him to the understanding that architecture is never an act of compromise, but rather an act of balancing. Professpr Lutz maintains a small consulting practice along side his teaching activities, enjoys doing forest management work, and developing a small farm with his family in East Calais, Vermont. The images here are of a recent design project for a small house built in central Vermont.
